Nashua, NH – On Saturday February 18th Swim With A Mission (SWAM) Co-Founders Phil and Julie Shusterman Taub were honored as the recipients of the Eleventh Annual Granite State Warrior Award by MOAA-NH during a special luncheon at the Nashua Country Club. Prior recipients of this prestigious award include Alex Ray, owner of the Common Man, BAE and Sig Sauer.
The New Hampshire Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA-NH) established the Granite State Warriors Award (GSWA) in 2011 to annually recognize the superb contributions of a New Hampshire based organization and/or a New Hampshire resident that has: Improved the health, morale, welfare, and recognition of US military personnel and their direct families through the creation and delivery of unique services either in the US or where military forces are deployed, or enhanced the war fighting capabilities of US military forces through the development and introduction of weapon systems and/or subsystems that have led to the strengthening of our national security.
Senator Maggie Hassan made a congratulatory speech to the Taub’s at the award ceremony stating, “Thank you for everything you have both done through your organization Swim With A Mission. Each year, Phil and Julie have continued to find new ways to help veterans transition to civilian life and get the care and support they need. As most of you know, what started as a small fundraiser and swim across newfound lake, has turned into much much more. Swim With A Mission is now helping get veterans service and support dogs and Phil and Julie have also launched Arts With A Mission to raise money for art therapy programs for veterans.”
The Taub’s are both extremely honored to be the recipients of the MOAA-NH 2022 Granite State Warrior Award as they continue SWAM’s mission to honor and support the veteran and active military community. Upon receiving the award, Phil Taub thanked the MOAA-NH chapter members and stated, “We humbly accept this award today. This has been an incredible journey for us. It has only been six years since we started this small charity Swim With A Mission, and we like to tell everybody that Julie and I did not serve like all of you, but this our service now and for the rest of our lives.”
